Our Vision
Bietti Crystalline Dystrophy (BCD) is an underdiagnosed, rare, blinding genetic eye disease that could affect more than 100,000 people globally. Patients have this condition since birth but typically first notice the vision change during their twenties and thirties, when they start another exciting new chapter, or are at the prime of their lives. The diagnosis is dream-shattering, life-altering and depressing, with little or no data to show how fast the eyesight will deteriorate but knowing that the blindness will be the reality. Information on the internet about BCD is very limited, even on websites related to retinal diseases. Currently, there is no treatment available.
Invincible Vision strives to serve this BCD community globally. We believe that you are who you are no matter what the circumstances are. With or without sight. Your core value and belief will propel you to realize your vision for life. At a time of scientific breakthroughs in biotechnology, artificial intelligence and other technology, our future is bright and there are and there will be many more technologies and devices at our services, which will support us to realize our vision. We connect, support and lean on each other and draw support from the society. We will find a treatment together.
Our vision is to build an open community for the global BCD patients, bring technology closer to the blind and the visually impaired, and accelerate research to find a treatment for BCD with our combined effort and wisdom.
Our Story
When three of us got connected, our hearts raced, and our minds aligned. We are: a loving family member, a self-taught biotech scientist and a web designer, who believe in building our vision forward. The mission of creating a non-profit organization is gradually being realized and this website came into being. All of us either sees a loved one is suffering a rare blinding disease called BCD, or ourselves are suffering it, so we know how painful it is to live with an underdiagnosed rare disease that lacks attention and funding. We decided to build the first BCD community with our full effort while going blind or seeing the loved one going blind. Along the way, we were joined by more BCD patients and their families and friends, who also believe in the invincible vision we can reach collectively, and they have pushed this project forward with their contributions. We look forward to connecting the BCD patients globally and accelerating the research with our collective effort and wisdom. However, this is a race against time and our effort alone is far than enough. We will need your help to bring awareness to BCD, to support us to cope with vision loss, and to fund research to find a treatment.
